Q: Does Habitat ReStore pick up donations?
A: Yes. We are happy to pick up your donation within the Metro Louisville area. If you have questions about scheduling a pickup, please call our
Donation Hotline: 502.805.1416.
Q: Do you charge a fee to pick up my donation?
A: ReStore no longer charges a fee for their pick up service, however, running our trucks continues to be expensive. We ask that you consider making a donation to help us offset these costs.
Q: Can I drop off my donation at the store?
A: Donations are accepted at all three ReStore locations during store hours. Please do your best to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing so we can assist you as needed and provide a donation receipt.
Q: Do I need to call the store before I bring my donation?
A: We ask that you call the store if you are bringing a large donation and will need assistance unloading. Please understand that larger donations will take longer to unload, and factor that into your plans.
Q: Why won't you take furniture with stains or appliances more than 10 years old?
A: We resell all of the items that are donated to the ReStore in order to generate an income stream for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville. We cannot accept appliances more than 10 years old, or items that are stained, torn, or broken, because they don't have a resale value.
Q: Are my donations tax-deductible?
A: All donations to the ReStore are tax deductible. We will give you a form to fill out and keep for your records. Please note: by law, we cannot assign a value to the items that you donate. You will need to consult an appraiser, or visit www.irs.gov for more information.
